VALDOSTA - Terel Toomer denied Delta State's attempt for a winning score when time expired, helping Valdosta State to a 51-48 win on Saturday.<br>

After the lead changed eight times, the Blazers (4-1, 4-0 Gulf South Conference) took the 3-point lead with 2:06 left when quarterback Fabian Walker scored on a 5-yard touchdown run.<br>

But the Statesman (3-2, 3-1) responded with a nine play drive, highlighted by a 30-yard pass from Scott Eyster to Ellis Debrow, who was pushed out at the one yard line.<br>

On first-and-goal, Statesman running back Steven Davis tried to leap over the pile but was stopped by Tracy Flounoy and Tim Thompson. Then on the final play, Jason Snell was stopped by Toomer.<br>

Fabian Walker completed 19-of-24 passes for 300 yards and two touchdowns, adding 70 yards rushing on 10 carries. Tyran Robinson rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown. Vincent Brown had two scores.<br>

Delta State quarterback Scott Eyster threw for 483 yards and four touchdowns. Chris Parks caught seven passes for 157 yards and Debrow had five receptions for 131 yards. Radale Pearson ran for 101 yards on 21 carries.
