ATLANTA - Atlanta hockey fans may not get to see the Thrashers for a while. But their minor league team may be taking to local ice.
With Phillips Arena empty due to the NHL lockout, the Thrashers have held talks with their minor-league affiliate - the Chicago Wolves - about playing a game in Atlanta. General Manager Don Waddell said several obstacles exist.
Waddell said the franchise would need from 45 to 60 days to plan the game. He said the Wolves have agreed to the idea and that compensating them for losing a home game would not be a problem.
