Man charged in boys death

<p>A man has been charged in the death of a 1-year-old Brunswick boy he told police he accidentally dropped on the floor.</p><p>Preston Alex Horton died Thursday at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah after police responded to a 911 call Wednesday afternoon from baby sitter Brandon Trey Moore, who is the boyfriend of the childs mother, police said.</p><p>The child was having extreme difficulty breathing, and he stopped breathing at one point, said Glynn County Police Lt. Jay Wiggins.</p><p>Paramedics resuscitated the infant on the way to the Brunswick hospital. The child was then flown to Memorial, where he died.</p><p>Moore, 22, told police that Preston had been injured accidentally. The infants mother, 21-year-old Anita Horton, was at work at the time, police said.</p><p>His statement was that he was playing with the child and (he) was dropped on the floor, said Wiggins.</p><p>Moore was arrested and charged with first degree cruelty to children.</p><p>Glynn County Police and the Department of Family and Children Services are investigating the death.</p><p>It is not the first time DFCS has investigated the boys caretakers. DFCS investigated another baby sitter about four months ago after a complaint that the baby sitter had hit the child because he had not been sleeping, but found that there were no concerns about the childs caretakers, said Tony Kreimborg, director of the Glynn County DFCS.</p><p>Information from: The Brunswick News</p>
