HOUSTON - The Houston Astros have formally announced the signing of six-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens.
Clemens had been saying he would retire at the end of last season after going 17-and-9 with a three-point-91 earned-run average in 211 innings with the New York Yankees.
He had second thoughts when Yankees teammate, friend and fellow Houston-area resident Andy Pettitte signed with the Astros last month.
Clemens has agreed to a one-year contract worth about $5 million. He goes to the Astros with a career record of 310-160.
