GAINESVILLE - Students from elementary and middle schools around Hall County gathered at South Hall Middle School Tuesday morning for the annual Hall County Spelling Bee.
Event organizer Joan Plitt said she was pleased with participation.
"Our students did very well," said Plitt. "We had 37 students. They were representing the 19 elementary schools and six middle schools."
This year's winner is Chestatee Middle School eighth-grader Loren Morgan, who won by correctly spelling the word 'hysterical.'
First runner-up was Kyle Grizzle, an East Hall Middle School eighth-grader.
"Because of the numbers in Hall County, both those young people are able to participate in the District Spelling Bee, February 28th," Plitt said.
The District Spelling Bee will be held in Suwanee.
