Well-known Gainesville opthalmologist, John Reed, dies

ATLANTA - One of Gainesville&#39;s foremost opthalmologists has passed away. Dr. John H. Reed, Jr. of Gainesville died Saturday in Atlanta following an extended illness. <br> <br> Dr. Reed established North Georgia Eye Clinic in Gainesville, and was a graduate of Gainesville High School, Mercer University and Emory University. <br> <br> He was also a member of the board of directors of the Medical Association of Georgia, and was a former president of the Georgia Society of Opthalmology. <br> <br> Memorial services are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Friday at the chapel of First Baptist Church on Green Street in Gainesville.<br>
