'Big Three' lead Lady Falcons

DAHLONEGA - The big three of Kristina Tyler, Beth Adcock and Courtney Newton were all the 13th-ranked Flowery Branch girls basketball team needed Saturday night against Lumpkin County.

The three combined for 48 points to outscore the entire Lumpkin team in a 63-42 win on the road.

The Lumpkin boys made it a split with a 63-54 win.

Newton led the Lady Falcons (14-6) with 18 points. Tyler chipped in 16 and Adcock had 14.

Flowery Branch led from nearly start to finish.

Lumpkin (4-16) was led by Ebony Jackson with 18 points.

In the boys game, the Falcons dropped their its second straight game Saturday night.

The Falcons (8-11) got their first-ever Region 7-AAA South win on Tuesday but lost to East Hall Friday before losing to Lumpkin (9-11).

Lumpkin led most of the game and did not let Flowery Branch get closer than four points down the stretch.

Shawn Johnson led the Falcons with 14 and freshman Zac Swansey added 12.

Lumpkin was led Andrew Moore and Marlon Hall, who poured in 14 points each. Daniel Wiggley added 12 and Reggie Rider 10.
