CHARLOTTE, N.C. - NASCAR's annual all-star race stays at Lowe's Motor Speedway next season as part of the 36-race Nextel Cup schedule released Tuesday. <br>

The Nextel All-Star Challenge will be run May 22nd at Lowe's, the 18th consecutive year the all-star event will be run at the Concord, North Carolina, track. NASCAR had been toying with the idea of moving the race. <br>

As planned, the traditional Labor Day weekend event that had been held at Darlington Raceway for 54 consecutive races is moving to California Speedway as the suburban Los Angeles track won two NASCAR dates in 2004. <br>

California Speedway will run its traditional spring event on May second. Its second race will be Labor Day weekend under the lights. <br>
<br>
The season-opening Daytona 500 will be run on February 15th. NASCAR will visit 23 tracks in 19 states.
