ALBANY - Riding high off an impressive start to the season, the Albany State Rams left Hugh Mills Stadium with a tough 19-13 loss at the hands of Kentucky State on Saturday night in a Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.

Last year, Albany State would have won a share of the league title if not for a 30-27 loss at Kentucky State.

But the Rams, after two big wins, had higher hopes this go-around.

Now, the Rams are 2-2, and 1-1 in the conference.

The Rams jumped out to a 7-0 lead on a 21-yard touchdown pass from Joyner to Alvin Ray Jackson in the first quarter.

The turning point came when Albany State was driving late in the first half and holding a 7-3 lead. Antonio Atkins fumbled at the Kentucky State 17, and the Thorobreds (3-0, 2-0) drove for the go-ahead touchdown with 32 seconds left on a 26-yard strike from quarterback Joe McBride to Jeremy Douglas.
