There Can Be Only One Outcome for 9-11 - An American Victory

By Gordon Sawyer 9/12/03
I don't know where you were, exactly two years ago today, but I can tell you where I was just as surely as I can tell you where I was on December 7, 1941 ... and the picture of that massive on-fire building is burned into my mind, but not nearly so clearly as the sudden view of a second airplane and another ball of fire as it hit the second building. At that moment I knew America was under attack, and the question was: who? And then we knew the Pentagon had been hit, and heard rumors of another plane somewhere over Pennsylvania headed for Washington, D. C. That was only two years ago, and our American media, for whatever reason, has chosen not to replay those jarring scenes very often and we have, as a result, let the impact of 9-11 soften a bit. We have people speaking out saying we should act as a nation the way we did during Vietnam, and we have some politicians saying we should pull our troops out of Iraq and Afghanistan.

I personally think we should replay the scenes of that second plane hitting the trade tower, and of those great buildings crumbling to the ground, and of the people running for their lives in the streets of New York. We ought to do that at least once a month, maybe on the 1th. And we should remember that we lost two of our own in the attack on the Pentagon, and that you can find their names on a monument at the Mountain Center in downtown Gainesville. September 11 two-years ago was a vicious attack on America by people who want to destroy us and our way of life, and we need never forget that.

We have made great progress since then, hitting at the heart of the terrorists, taking control of Afghanistan and now Iraq, and crippling Al-Quida in other places. Our volunteer military forces are fighting OUR war outside the United States, and our
enemies are hoping we Americans will turn yellow, and lose our resolve, and quit the field. On this day especially, but also every day hereafter, I propose we say forcefully: We have been attacked on American soil, and thus we are in a war ... and we plan to stay with it until we win. We would do well to remember the words of an American hero who said simply: "Let's Roll."

This is Gordon Sawyer and may the wind always be at your back.
