WASHINGTON - The Census Bureau says Forsyth County had the fastest-growing Asian and black populations in the country between 2000 and 2002.
The Asian population increased 139 percent during the period; the black population increased 88 percent.
There are now about 2,000 Asians and 1,000 blacks living in the county.
Forsyth County has a history of racial intolerance, but that has been changing in recent years as it became one of the fastest-growing counties in the country.
