Marietta wins again in Connie Mack Series

FARMINGTON, N.M. - The Marietta, Ga. Yankees defeated the Cincinnati-Midland Redskins 10-9 Tuesday in the Connie Mack World Series. <br> <br> Cincinnati grabbed the lead in the first on singles by third baseman Allan Cattrysse and shortstop Tom King. Cattrysse scored on an error by the second baseman and King scored on a wild pitch. <br> <br> A lead off single by centerfielder Dexter Fowler got the Yankees going in the bottom of the second. Catcher Nick Scherer rapped a double to centerfield. Fowler scored on a passed ball to cut the Midland lead in half. With runners on the corners, second baseman Brad Emaus sent a single over the third baseman&#39;s head to score Scherer, tying the game. <br> <br> The Yankees took the lead when first baseman Whit Robbins sent a long fly ball deep into the corner of right field, picking up two RBI&#39;s scoring Payne and Emaus. Robbins went to third on an error by the right fielder, when he over threw second base. Shortstop Chris Nelson took the first pitch to right field for a single to push Robbins across. <br> <br> The Yankees added two more runs to their lead in the fourth when shortstop Chris Nelson was issued a walk, bringing left fielder Jon Marc Owings to the plate. Owings smashed a two run homer out of the park. <br> <br> The Redskins tied the score at 7 in the fifth. <br> <br> The game was tied at the end of seven innings, forcing extra innings. <br> <br> Payne drew a walk in the top of the ninth and then stole second. The catcher over threw the second baseman on the attempted pick off, and Payne took third on the error. Emaus drove home the winning run for the Yankees on a single to right field.
