Stuart Moore beat Nicholas Thompson of Coral Springs, Florida, 4-and-3.<br>

"The rough's really tough, so, if you can't get it in the fairway, then you really don't have a good chance to make par," Moore said. "(My) driver's really been good this week."<br>

Moore will tee off Thursday at 8:05 in the second round of the tournament, playing in a twosome with Adam Rubinson of Fort Worth, Texas.<br>

"I'll have to play really good to keep winning," Moore said.<br>

Moore is the son of Steve and Cahty Moore of Gainesville.
