Gardner-Webb whips Clark Atlanta

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. - Nick Roberts threw for 148 yards and three touchdowns as Gardner-Webb beat Clark Atlanta 45-0 Saturday in the season opener for both teams. <br> <br> Chris Foster rushed 11 times for 74 yards and a score for the Bulldogs, who outgained the Panthers 203-100 on the ground and 363-135 overall. Clark Atlanta&#39;s Adrian Johnson completed only four of 13 passes for 35 yards. <br> <br> Foster opened the scoring with a 13-yard strike to William Andrews, who finished with eight catches for 100 yards. The tandem hooked up again four minutes later on a 6-yard touchdown pass to give Gardner-Webb a 13-0 lead. <br> <br> The Bulldogs led 19-0 at halftime and broke open the game with 23 points in the third quarter. Nick Roberts and Lorne Hicks each ran for a TD and Tavoris Horton recorded a safety when he tackled the punter in the end zone. <br> <br> Johnson finished with 51 yards on the ground for Division II Clark Atlanta. The Gardner-Webb defense recovered two fumbles and posted two sacks, holding the Panthers to 11 first downs. <br> <br> Gardner-Webb has now won 10 straight games at home.
