Broncos tight end arrested in Atlanta on battery charge

ATLANTA - Denver Broncos tight end Dwayne Carswell is being held Saturday at an Atlanta jail following his arrest on a domestic violence charge. <br>

Officials say the 6-foot-3, 260-pound Carswell was arrested Friday and charged with simple battery, domestic violence, and obstruction of an officer. He is being held without bail pending an initial court appearance at the county jail Saturday afternoon. <br>

The circumstances of the arrest were not immediately available. <br>
<br>
Carswell has faced two similar charges before, one in 2001 and one in 1998. Plea agreements were reached in both cases. <br>
<br>
Carswell was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2001, when he had 49 receptions for 495 yards. He has also served as a backup to Shannon Sharpe when he has been injured.
