ATLANTA - An unidentified man who collapsed during the Peachtree Road Race remains unconscious at Atlanta's Crawford Long Hospital.
The man suffered from cardiac arrest in the last mile of the 6.2 mile race Friday. No one has contacted the hospital or race officials to report a missing person.
Atlanta bicycle police revived him with a defibrillator and a doctor in the race stopped to help.
Atlanta Track Club officials could not trace the man through his race number. Officials say they do not know if the man was originally assigned the number or if it was someone else's.
The man did not fill out the back of the race number with his name or emergency contact information. It is against race rules to receive someone else's race number but about 4,500 numbers are transferred in this way each year.
