Burnitz was acquired for three minor league prospects, infielder Victor Diaz and pitchers Joselo Diaz and Kole Strayhorn. The Dodgers also receive cash from the Mets to pay part of Burnitz's contract.
Burnitz this year is hitting .274 with 18 homers and 45 RBIs. He missed a month of action with a broken bone in his left hand.
Henderson is back in the majors after spending the year with Newark of the Independent Atlantic League. The all-time stolen base leader hit .223 for Boston last year. Henderson owns a .279 lifetime average with 3,040 hits and 1,343 steals.
