KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE - Tennessee will open the 2005 season against Alabama-Birmingham and continue their rivalry with Notre Dame with a return to South Bend, athletic director Mike Hamilton announced Friday. <br>

The 11-game 2005 football schedule includes two home games against Conference USA teams, Memphis on Nov. 12 and the Blazers in the season opener on Sept. 3. <br>

The Notre Dame (Nov. 5) and Memphis games conclude a two-year home-and-home series. Tennessee will host Notre Dame, and travel to Memphis in 2004. <br>
<br>
The Vols open conference play in 2005 with road games Sept. 17 against Florida and Sept. 24 at LSU, the first scheduled meeting with the Tigers since the 2001 Southeastern Conference championship. <br>
<br>
Alabama on Oct. 22 and Kentucky on Nov. 16, the season finale, are Tennessee's other SEC road trips. <br>
<br>
The Vols host SEC rivals Mississippi on Oct. 1, Georgia on Oct. 8, South Carolina on Oct. 29 and Vanderbilt on Nov. 19.
