LONG POND, PENNSYLVANIA - Ryan Newman won Sunday's Pennsylvania 500 for his NASCAR series-leading fourth victory.
Kurt Busch was second. Newman led a race-high 88 laps.
Newman climbed up four spots in the Winston Cup standings into ninth place.
Dale Earnhardt, Jr., who finished third, passed Jeff Gordon in the standings to take over second place 232 points behind leader Matt Kenseth.
Gordon completed just 155 laps and came home in 36th place. Kenseth finished 13th at Pocono.
Newman won from the pole, just as Dawsonville's Bill Elliott did in last year's race at Pocono.
Elliott finished 17th this time.
