ConAgra recalls 129,000 pounds of chicken because of glass, USDA says

WASHINGTON - ConAgra Poultry Co. is recalling 129,000 pounds of chicken because it may contain glass, the Agriculture Department said Thursday. <br> <br> The Athens, Ga.-based company is asking distributors in five states Florida, Georgia, New York, North Carolina and South Carolina to return 3.5- to 4-pound bags of ``Country Pride Fresh Chicken&#39;&#39; packages that have a sell-by date of 6-20-03, 6-21-03 or 6-22-03. <br> <br> The packages are marked with an establishment code of P-177 inside the USDA inspection seal. <br> <br> ``Because of the potential hazard, I urge consumers who have purchased these products not to eat them but to return them to the place of purchase,&#39;&#39; said Dr. Garry L. McKee, administrator for USDA&#39;s food safety agency. <br> <br> Also recalled were: <br> <br> 40-pound cases of ``Fresh Young Chicken 8 PC WOFT/ 20 HD&#39;&#39; with a product code of 019434 and an establishment code P-1279 inside the USDA seal. Those were processed on June 10. <br> <br> 40 lb. cases of ``Country Pride Fresh Young Chicken Whole Wings and Livers.&#39;&#39; They are marked with a product code of 019553 and an establishment code of P-6638 inside the USDA seal. They were processed on June 9th and 10th. <br> <br> Consumers with questions about the recall can call a company hot line at 1-800-414-7500.
