Day off for Braves after losing series to Mariners

The Atlanta Braves are off Monday after losing two-of-three to the Seattle Mariners over the weekend.

The Braves start a series Tuesday night in Philadelphia against the N.L.-East rival Phillies.

Sunday night in Seattle, Gil Meche outdueled four-time Cy Young winner Greg Maddux as the Mariners won 2-1.

Ichiro Suzuki had a pair of infield singles, scored both Seattle runs and stole three bases. Bret Boone had both RBI's in Sunday night's game.

The Mariners took two of three from the Braves in a matchup of the teams with the best records in each league.

Maddux (5-6), meanwhile, had the kind of performance you'd expect from a future Hall of Famer. His eleven strikeouts were a season high.
