GAINESVILLE - A boat accident injured a man on Lake Lanier Sunday afternoon.
The unidentified driver lost control in the area of Hall County's Little River Park.
"My understanding is a steering cable broke on the boat," said Hall County Fire Chief Mike Satterfield.
He says the boat went into a sharp turn.
"(The) individual was thrown from their boat, and when they were in the water, the prop had severely lacerated their thigh," said Satterfield.
Other boaters in the area saw the accident and came to the man's rescue. They got him out of the water, took him to shore, and called for help.
Emergency medical technicians responded and transported him to the hospital.
He underwent surgery a short time later. The man remains hospitalized.
