A Cook County jury found Robinson guilty in May of domestic battery and assault for an altercation he had with Jonta French in her Chicago Heights home.
The lawsuit she filed Thursday in Cook County Circuit Court alleges that the attack caused her emotional distress.
In 2002, when he was playing for the Milwaukee Bucks, Robinson pushed and threatened French, demanding to know where she put a handgun he had left in her home, prosecutors said.
Cook County Judge Christopher Donnelly sentenced Robinson to one year of probation. He also ordered Robinson to undergo anger management counseling and complete five days of service in work program run by the Cook County Sheriff's office.
