CINCINNATI - Former University of Cincinnati basketball player Donald Little was sentenced Tuesday to 30 days in jail.
The 25-year-old athlete admitted having punched his former roommate last year, for which Little was kicked off the team.
Little was also sentenced in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court to five years of probation.
Judge Thomas Crush said he thought jail time was warranted, because Little has previously been convicted of disorderly conduct.
He admitted that he punched roommate Justin Hodge in the face in April of last year.
Police said Little falsely believed then that the roommate had stolen $2,500 from Little.
The center from Augusta, Georgia, later played professional basketball in Turkey.
His lawyer said Tuesday that Little's jail sentence could hurt his chances of being selected on Thursday in the National Basketball Association's draft.
