GAINESVILLE - The Georgia Corvette Caravan arrived in Hall County Tuesday on its way to celebrate the 50th aniversary of America's only true sports car.
Three hundred vintage Vets spanning five generations gathered at Road Atlanta.
The Georgia Caravan will join thousands of other Corvettes and their owners from across the nation in Bowling Green, Kentucky for the 50th aniversary of the Corvette later this week.
Vicky Hicks is captain of the Georgia Corvette Caravan, on its way to the Corvette's big birthday party.
"At this point by the time all the caravans arrive in Bowling Green, we should have between 10,000 to 12,000 Corvettes", Hicks said
Hicks said over a thousand "Vets" are registered for the trip to Bowling Green from Georgia and Florida.
Corvette owner Jim Willis of Birmingham said the car was always his dream.
"A lot of us grew up hoping we would own our own Corvette," Willis said.
Corvette owner Linda Gunther of Columbus said Vets bring back fun memories.
"They're all American, people have memories of them from early childhood until they are old," Gunther said.
Gunther and her husband own a 2000 Corvette and a 1961 model.
