ATLANTA - Georgia has one probable and six suspected SARS cases, state health officials said Tuesday.
Georgia Division of Public Health officials said the state's probable case involves a man from north Georgia who was ill during a visit to China.
Chinese health officials told the man he had an unusual chest X-ray, which would match the definition of a probable case of SARS. Georgia health officials ``haven't seen any evidence of an unusual chest X-ray,'' but the man is still listed as a probable case, said spokesman Richard Quartarone.
Two people from south Georgia who became sick after returning from a trip to Asia were listed as suspected cases Friday. Last week, an east Georgia man was listed as a suspected case after becoming ill from a trip to China, Quartarone said.
Quartarone declined to name the residents' towns, citing confidentiality reasons.
In March and April, three women from metro Atlanta - who all had traveled to affected Asian countries - were listed as suspect cases.
