COLUMBIA, S.C. - Chip Cannon hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning as The Citadel beat South Carolina 7-4 on Wednesday night. <br>

The Citadel (30-22) got on the board in the first inning with a homer by Jon Aughey. South Carolina (35-18) tied the score at 1 in the third, with a home-run by Kevin Melillo and took a 2-1 lead in the fourth on a bases-loaded walk. <br>

But the Bulldogs took the lead for good off Cannon's homer. The Gamecocks never got closer than 4-3 on Brian Buscher's solo home-run in the seventh inning. <br>

The Citadel added three more runs in the ninth. South Carolina answered with one. <br>

Matt Hamer (5-1) allowed one run in three innings of work to get the win for the Bulldogs. Zach Reeves (0-1) took the loss for the Gamecocks, allowing three runs.
