Jefferson boys finish third at state track meet

JEFFERSON - The Class A boys state track and field championship was decided in the final event with Jenkins County ending Landmark Christian's seven-year run as state champions. Jefferson finished third after standing just three points back heading into the final day's events. They scored just five points Saturday. Jenkins County won four events Saturday, including Kendell Cooper in both the 100 and the 200, and Joshua Lake in the 400. Cooper was the Class A high-point performer with 23 points. Buford's 400-meter relay team won the Class AA trophy. The Wolves finished fifth overall.
