CLEMSON, S.C. - Clemson pitcher Brock Thornburg has been arrested and accused of three apartment burglaries at a complex on the school's campus, authorities said.
Thornburg, 18, has been charged with first-degree burglary and malicious damage to real property, Clemson University Police Lt. Chris Kirkland said. The burglaries included vandalism and occurred about 2 a.m. Friday, police said. School officials estimate about $4,000 in damage at three unoccupied apartments.
Thornburg, of Blacksburg, was being held at the Pickens County Detention Center on Tuesday and will likely be there for two weeks awaiting a bond hearing, Kirkland said.
The redshirt freshman has been suspended from the team, which plays in the first round of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament Wednesday against North Carolina.
Also arrested on the same charges was Rusty Alan Herman, 19, of Lenoir, N.C., authorities said.
