STARKVILLE, MISSISSIPPI - Jon Mungle had a career-high four hits and pitcher Paul Maholm allowed one run in seven innings of work to lead Mississippi State to an 8-1 victory Friday night over Kentucky. <br>

Mississippi State (24-4-1, 9-1 Southeastern Conference) had 15 hits, including Mungle's one-out triple in a three-run third inning. <br>

Kentucky (11-18, 0-10) managed just three hits against the Bulldogs. The Wildcats scored their only run in the fourth inning. <br>

Joseph Hunter hit an RBI triple during a two-run fourth and had a double to open another two-run inning in the sixth for Mississippi State. <br>

Kentucky starter Scott Wade (1-4) was pounded for seven earned runs and 11 hits in 5 1/3 innings. He took the loss. <br>

Maholm (5-1) allowed two hits to earn the victory. <br>

Kentucky scored its only run when Mike Breyman reached on a throwing error, advanced on a single and a sacrifice bunt and scored on Russ Rutherford's infield grounder. <br>
