BOWLING GREEN, KENTUCKY - Western Kentucky University sophomore guard Patrick Sparks has been granted his release from the men's basketball team.<br>

Sparks, who led the team to a third-straight NCAA tournament appearance this season, is leaving less than two weeks after former head coach Dennis Felton accepted the head coaching job at Georgia.<br>

According to a statement from Western, Sparks had been considering leaving the school before this season.<br>
<br>
Sparks led the Hilltoppers with 13.3 points and 5.9 assists per game.<br>
<br>
He was a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference selection this year and was the MVP of this year's conference tournament, which the Hilltoppers won.
