WASHINGTON - Plans for a memorial honoring the 184 victims killed at The Pentagon, including one from Gainesville, were unveiled Monday in Washington.

Each victim will be remembered with a reflective bench with their name on it at a two-acre memorial park within walking distance of where American Airlines Flight 77 crashed into The Pentagon on 9-11.

Edna Stephens of Gainesville was one of the victims. She was in her Pentagon office when the plane hit.

The benches will face one direction for those killed in the The Pentagon and in another direction for those killed on the plane.

The cost of the memorial is estimated between $5 and $7.5 million and will be dedicated September 11th, 2004.

The plans, designed by New York architects Julie Beckman and Keith Kaseman, were chosen from more than 1,100 entries from around the world.
