ATLANTA - Toney Douglas scored 29 points, including 10 in a fourth-quarter surge that helped Jonesboro eliminate Redan 63-49 in a Class AAAAA Boys semifinal game Thursday night. <br>

Jonesboro (27-5) will face Wheeler in the state finals Friday night. Wheeler defeated Savannah 51-43 in the other semifinal. <br>

Jonesboro gained a 10-point third-quarter lead by holding Redan (23-9) scoreless for more than four minutes. <br>

With the Cardinals leading 41-31, the Raiders opened the fourth period with a 6-2 run that put them within six. Douglas responded with an outburst that included a 3-pointer and 5-of-5 free-throw shooting in less than 10 minutes. <br>

Redan's only lead came in the second quarter with a 13-3 run that included two 3-pointer by Gerald Stegall, who finished with 24 points. <br>

Wheeler (29-2) built a 27-10 halftime lead and withstood two second-half Savannah runs to advance to the championship game. <br>

The Wildcats held the Blue Jackets (22-10) for five minutes without a field goal during a 13-1 first-half run. They led 20-6 with 4:33 left in the half. <br>

With a more aggressive defense and more deliberate offense, Savannah had spurts of 19-6 in the third quarter and 9-0 in the fourth to get within three. Wheeler shut down the rally and held the Blue Jackets to one field goal in the last 2.5 minutes while building an eight-point lead, mostly on free throws. <br>

Sharuard Curry led Wheeler with 15 points. Michael Wingster led Savannah with 13, including eight in the third quarter.
