Randolph-Clay, Early County in Class AA girls final

MACON - Miranda Wright scored 14 points and Erica McCoy 13 as Early County beat Paideia 52-46 in a Class AA girls state semifinal Thursday. <br>

Early County (27-2) will seek its first state championship in Saturday's final against Randolph-Clay (23-2), a 48-42 winner over Holy Innocents'. <br>

In a game that started 55 minutes late because of technical problems with the Macon Coliseum scoreboard clock, Early County took the lead for good on a pair of free throws by Candice Jaines with 3:45 left in the first half, sparking an 8-2 run that gave Early a 29-23 halftime lead. <br>

They led by as many as 11 in the second half. <br>

Paideia (24-8) got 20 points from Sparkle Davis and 19 from Julie Mulinare. <br>
<br>
Charonda Tillman scored 18 points and Randolph-Clay took control with an 11-0 fourth-quarter run. <br>
<br>
Randolph-Clay's victory set up an all-Region 1-AA state final against region champion Early County. <br>
<br>
Randolph-Clay trailed 37-35 with just under five minutes left before the big run, started with Keywanna Price's basket to tie the game. Two straight layups by Tillman pushed the Lady Red Devils' lead to four, and they sealed the win with free throws. <br>

Christy Brown scored 16 points and Jessie Pickren 12 for Holy Innocents' (27-4), which led by as many as 10 in the first half.
