GAINESVILLE - The Dawsonville Highway bridge at the Hall-Forsyth county line, which was closed for repairs several nights last fall, will be closed again at night next week.
Georgia Department of Transportation District (GDOT) Engineer Larry Dent, says the bridge was primed last fall, but the final painting had to be delayed until warmer weather.
That work is scheduled to begin, weather permitting, at 9:00 next Sunday night, March 23, and continue nightly for perhaps a week. The bridge will be closed each night next week between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., according too Dent.
Motorists will be able to access State Route 53 from the east or west," Dent said, "but cannot cross the bridge. Homes and businesses will maintain access but drivers must approach their destination from the correct side of the bridge knowing the bridge cannot be crossed."
Instead of utilizing State Route 53 between Gainesville and Dawsonville or Cumming, GDOT suggests you use State Route 369/Browns Bridge Road.
