GAINESVILLE - The fifth anniversary of the killer tornado that roared through Hall and White counties five years ago was marked Thursday morning at North Hall High School with a brief mention over the intercom.<br>

The area around the school was hardest hit in Hall County and the school itself was damaged. <br>

Principal Gary Brown says "I had not planned to do anything outside of making a comment about the anniversary before the Moment of Silence."<br>

"The low-key approach is because of the need to remember what happened without bringing up unpleasant memories for our staff, the fact that none of our students were here when the tornado hit, and the fact that this country is mostly likely going to war on Thursday," Brown said.<br>

Thirteen people were killed - twelve in Hall County and one in White - in the predawn darkness when the storm struck about 6:30. More than 120 were injured and there was more than $15 million in damage.
