Auburn leads, Georgia 8th in NCAA swim championship

AUSTIN, TEXAS - Auburn freshman George Bovell set an NCAA record in the 200-yard individual medley Thursday night as the Tigers took the lead after six events at the NCAA men&#39;s swimming and diving championships. <br> <br> Bovell had a time of 1 minute, 42.66 seconds, breaking the mark of 1:42.85 set by Nate Dusing of Texas in 2001. <br> <br> Auburn has 206 points, followed by Stanford (121), California (115) defending champion Texas (107) and Florida (81). Georgia is eighth with 55 points. <br> <br> The Tigers are trying to keep up with the Auburn women&#39;s team, which won the NCAA title last week. <br> <br> Texas set a record in the 400-yard medley relay with a time of 3:04.47, breaking the mark of 3:05.37 set by the Longhorns in 2001. Aaron Peirsol, Brendan Hansen, Ian Crocker and Chris Kemp held off Stanford, which finished in 3:07.24.
