ROME - Marine Master Sgt. David Allen will trade in his state trooper pistol for a government-issue rifle when he mobilizes with the Marine reserves.
Allen, a state trooper who has been in the Marine Corps Reserves for 20 years, is mobilizing with Rome-based Detachment 1, Ammunition company.
He departs Rome for Camp Pendleton, Calif., Sunday morning. He also served in the Persian Gulf War.
``At (the time of the Gulf War), I didn't have a home to come back to,'' said Allen, who now has a wife and two sons. ``Just because of them it's much harder.''
As war with Iraq becomes increasingly likely, Marines are being repositioned to Southwest Asia.
``I feel a little anxiety, but I pretty much knew it was coming. We've been waiting for like a week now. We're ready to get it over with,'' Allen said.
