Former police officer sentenced for extortion from nude club

ATLANTA - A former Fulton County police captain accused of taking money from a nude dance club in exchange for official favors was sentenced Monday. <br> <br> Mark Timothy Lance, 36, of Cumming, was sentenced to 14 months in federal prison and ordered to serve three years supervised release, according to a U.S. Department of Justice press release. <br> <br> Lance pleaded guilty to an extortion charge in October. He admitted taking $2,000 from the management of ``Flasher&#39;s&#39;&#39; to assist unqualified employees in receiving permits to work in adult entertainment in Fulton County, federal attorneys said. People with criminal records are not eligible for a permit. <br> <br> The 13-year veteran, who was a lieutenant at the time, was indicted in December 2001 on multiple federal charges that accused him of taking $20,000 between 1998 and 2000 to provide police protection to the Sandy Springs club in exchange for money.
