Army reserve unit to help secure Robins Air Force Base

WARNER ROBINS - Warner Robins Air Force officials Tuesday welcomed about 120 Army National Guard soldiers who will help secure the base for at least a year. <br>

The activation of the 1177th transportation company is part of an agreement between the Army and the Air Force in December. The agreement calls for eight-thousand Army National Guardsman to increase security at some Air Force bases in the United States and Europe. <br>

Lieutenant Colonel Mark Papen of Robins Air Force Base says the guardsmen also will help relieve Robins security personnel from 12-hour shifts to eight-hour shifts.
