Mercer wins fifth straight over Morris Brown

MACON - Scott Emerson had 21 points and 12 rebounds Thursday night to lead Mercer to its fifth straight win - 90-83 over Morris Brown. <br> <br> The Bears (16-5) turned a 31-30 lead into a 10-point advantage in a little over a minute at the end of the first half and beginning of the second. <br> <br> Emerson&#39;s three-point play made it 34-30 at intermission. To start the second half, Wesley Duke and Emerson had back-to-back baskets, and Aleem Muhammad had a 4-point play after being fouled on a 3-pointer, bringing Mercer&#39;s lead to 42-32 just 45 seconds into the period. <br> <br> The lead grew to 15 points twice, but Morris Brown (7-16) wouldn&#39;t go away. Anthony Adams led the Wolverines with 31 points, including 25 in the second half. Larry Washington scored 22. <br> <br> With its 16th win, Mercer has its most victories since 1984-85, which it finished 22-9.
