Land use plan update process to begin

By by Ken Stanford
GAINESVILLE - Public input will be sought next month as Hall County officials kick off the state-mandated updating of the county's comprehensive land use plan.

Planning director Bill Meyer says a meeting - the first in a series - will be held at the Georgia Mountains Center March 6.

Meyer said the first meeting will be a chance to let people know "more about the comprehensive plan and what it does and doesn't do and what it means to the citizens of Gainesville and Hall County."

He says a survey of the audience will be included in the meeting. Meyer says the questions will be "generalized questions" about people's feelings about living here.

"And, things that they may be concerned about, things that they think are positive and the strengths of the community as well."

The update must be finished by next June. Updates of the comprehensive land use land are required by the state every ten years.
