Sugar Hill teen appears in court

LAWRENCEVILLE - A 13 year old Sugar Hill boy had his pretrial hearing Thursday in Lawrenceville.

Corey Clevenger's attorney's asked the his charges of the kidnapping, rape and assault of a 4-year old girl be handled by juvenile court, but due to the seriousness of the girl's injuries the judge refused.

The judge also heard testimony from the girl's mother and relatives of Clevenger before ruling that he would still face charges as an adult.

The teen is accused of abducting the girl from her bedroom and raping her in some nearby woods. The girl required surgery for he injuries as a result of the February 9th attack.

A Gwinnett County detective testified that at the time of Clevenger's arrest he claimed the girl consented to the activity.

The detective adds that a seven-year-old neighbor claims that Clevenger tried to entice her earlier the same day.
