A 3-point attempt by Georgia State's Lamont McIntosh bounced off the front of the rim as time expired, and the Gamecocks clinched an Atlantic Sun Conference playoff berth. <br>

A basket by McIntosh had put the Panthers (11-14, 6-8 ASUN) up 69-66 with 30 seconds left in regulation, but Poonie Richardson nailed a 3-pointer for Jacksonville State (18-9, 8-6) to tie it with 10 seconds to go. <br>

Georgia State got 19 points and seven rebounds from Nate Williams. Trello Galloway had a personal-best 18 points and added 12 rebounds, while McIntosh finished with 15 points. <br>

The Panthers twice had a chance to tie the game near the end of overtime, at 76-74 and then at 78-76. Galloway had a steal and was going in for a lay-up but lost the ball on the attempted dunk, and on the second chance Leroy Davis lost control on a dribble and the ball went out of bounds.
