GHS's Glover wins state wrestling title

UNDATED - Gainesville High's Aaron Glover won the Class AAA 160-pound wrestling title Saturday. Gilmer County's B.J. Clampitt won the 199-pound title; Gilmer's Steve Elliott, 215; and, Elbert County's Aubrey Fortson captured the state title in the 275-pound division.

The team championship was won by Lovett. Northeast Georgia schools finishing in the top ten were Gilmer County, fourth, and, Elbert County, eighth.

In Class AAAA, at Rome, Jackson County High's Jason Powers won the 112-pound championship and Nick Newton of North Forsyth captured the title in the 135-pound division.

In Class AA action, at McDonough, Dawson County finished second in team competition.

And, in Class A, at Jefferson, Jefferson High School won the team championship for the third straight year.
