Federated executive Lundgren to add chairmans title

<p>Terry J. Lundgren, president and chief executive officer of Federated Department Stores Inc., will add the title of chairman on Jan. 15 to succeed current chairman James M. Zimmerman, who is retiring after 38 years with the retailer.</p><p>The change announced Friday will complete a two-year transition of authority from Zimmerman to Lundgren.</p><p>Lundgren, 51, will become the seventh chairman-CEO in the 75-year corporate history of Federated, whose stores include Macys and Bloomingdales.</p><p>He started with Federated in 1975 at its Bullocks division, now a part of Macys West. He moved up through the companys management ranks, then left to work for Neiman Marcus in Dallas between 1988 and 1994, rising to chairman and CEO of Neiman Marcus. He returned to Federated in 1994 as chairman and CEO of its merchandising operations, where he oversaw the integration of Macys merchandising and product development functions into Federated.</p><p>Lundgren became president of Federated in 1997. He added the title of chief operating officer in 2002 before becoming CEO this year.</p><p>Zimmerman, 59, became Federateds chairman and CEO in 1997, having served as president and chief operating officer since 1988.</p><p>___</p><p>On the Net:</p><p>HASH(0x28657d0)</p>
