LSU football coach Nick Saban, whose name has come up as a possible coaching candidate with the Atlanta Falcons and the New York Giants, says he is not interested in NFL openings.

I havent talked to any teams, Saban said during a luncheon Thursday for the Sugar Bowl. I dont intend to talk to any teams. Were happy to be here.

Sabans offensive coordinator, Jimbo Fisher, through a university spokesman, downplayed a report listing him as a leading candidate to become head coach at the University of Cincinnati.

LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette said Fisher did not want to be interviewed, but said hes happy where he is. Bonnette said Cincinnati athletic director Bob Goin flew to Baton Rouge to talk with Fisher.

He said he spoke with the A.D., Bonnette said. And thats all he told me. They just left it at that, he told me.

Saban said his interest was the Sugar Bowl, not the NFL.

We have worked hard here for four years to build what our goal was, and that was to have a dominant program that was nationally recognized, Saban said. I think we have done that to some degree, and we have a great opportunity ahead of us to play for the national championship, and I am pleased and proud of all that and I am very happy to be here.

LSU meets Oklahoma in the Jan. 4 Sugar Bowl at the Louisiana Superdome for a share of the national championship.
