BRASELTON - A planning expert predicts a population boom in Braselton over the next 20 years.
By 2023, according to the report, the town is expected to hit 10,300 residents; the 2000 Census reported Braselton's population at just over one thousand.
"And there's nothing you can do about it," Joe Tichy is quoted as saying by Norton Native Intelligence Market Watch, a Norton Agency publication. "You've already plotted those lots."
Tichy is Special Projects Coordinator for the Athens-based Northeast Georgia Regional Development Center, and he spoke recently at a public hearing on Braselton's comprehensive plan.
Braselton now spans four counties and projected population numbers don't include the possibility of future annexations, according to the report.
