Several university administrators and athletic directors are meeting in Georgia today to discuss what they consider to be an ethical crisis in college sports.
Vanderbilt University Chancellor Gordon Gee and Clemson University athletic director Terry Don Phillips are expected to speak at the conference at the Commerce Club in Atlanta.
University of Georgia athletic director Vince Dooley also was originally scheduled to speak at the event before he was hospitalized last night with abdominal pain.
At Vanderbilt, Gee recently abolished the school athletic department and consolidated athletics under an office that is overseen by the school's central administration.
At Clemson, Phillips is chair of the NCAA Division I infractions appeals committee.
And at Georgia, Dooley was among the administrators last spring who oversaw the replacement of head basketball coach Jim Harrick. The Georgia episode followed an investigation of academic fraud and unethical conduct in the basketball program.
