GAINESVILLE - Brent Benson scored 22 points to lead the Elephants to a big win.
Gainesville (7-1) never trailed and used a 19-0 run in the first and second quarters to put the game away.
They led 35-15 at halftime and held Chestatee to just 9 second-half points.
James Chester had 9 points for Gainesville.
Chestatee (2-4) was led by 9 points each from Corey Black and Dustin Jarrard.
Chestatee coach Russ Triaga said he's using the early season as a learning experience for his young team.
"We've already played East Hall, Gainesville and Flowery Branch so it's been a very tough beginning," said Triaga, who came over from Oconee County this year. "We lost three seniors from last year so this is more of a rebuilding year than our first year. But we're making progress in certain areas and I think once we get to the subregion schedule we'll be okay."
